Fostering EduLARP -Training seminar in Berlin

From 21 to 25 January 2025, our kick-off seminar for the project ‘Fostering the use of EduLARP methods on migration topics’ took place in Berlin. Learners from Greece, Spain, Italy and Germany came together for four days to explore the method of Educational Life Action Roleplay in non-formal political education. The more than 30 youth workers of different age groups were enthusiastic about the Minosia Labyrinth method, which gave them a new, deeper understanding of the issues of migration and inclusion from the perspective of those affected and with strong self-reflective elements. The composition of the group, which included people with a migration and refugee background, as well as the diverse team of trainers, provided a particularly good basis for intensive reflection and exchange. The Greek partner organisation Larpifiers offered a practical and exciting introduction to LARPing with their mini-LARP ‘School Council’ before the participants started the big Minosia Labyrinth LARP on the second day after an intensive introduction. After three hours of LARP play, the day ended with an emotional review of the experiences. The next day was devoted entirely to reflecting on the experiences in the role play – first on a personal level, then with a look at the social and institutional aspects, before we ended the day by looking at perspectives and our own options for action. On the last day, other best practice methods were presented and tried out, participants with refugee experience shared their experiences, and there was a round of discussions on perspectives for using the Minosia Labyrinth method in their own fields of work/organisations. Finally, participants who were interested in taking part in the upcoming trainer training for the Minosia Labyrinth method came together. We clarified the framework conditions for the training and the participants outlined their interest in more detail. The afternoon’s activities then focused entirely on evaluating the training days and saying goodbye.
